If you want to register your foals so that they have papers to prove their welsh breeding or if you want to show your pony in Welsh classes at any of the available shows throughout the country you will need to become a member of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society of South Africa.

The membership application form and the fees for the current year are available from these links. The Society’s rules and regulations will be found under The Constitution and Bye-laws of the Society.
To understand the steps you need to follow if you are planning to breed with your ponies and register them with the Society, we suggest that you read the Administrative Procedures. These will provide you with a guide as to which forms you need to complete.

The Breed Type and Standard gives a detailed description of the physical requirements for each Section of the Breed.

The Show Rules will give you the requirements and suggested format for classes held at Welsh Pony Shows. Once you start competing with your ponies, In-Hand, Under Saddle or in Harness you will become eligible for different types of awards. Performance Awards are presented annually based on the performance of the pony during the current year, whilst Legion of Merit Awards are granted to ponies which have scored the required number of Championship points over any period of time.

As a member of the Society you also have the opportunity to buy Welsh Pony & Cob Society I.D. books, Ties, T-shirts for the children & golf shirts for adults, CDs of the WPCS Stud Book and other items. The price list gives further details.
